National SafeRides and How it Works

square logoREGISTER You must register with National Saferides Inc. before a ride will be set up for you. If you are not registered, you will be asked to pay for your ride. This policy is in accordance with our mission statement. We want to encourage better planning and smarter decisions which will help save lives. You may register online or with one of our Representatives. If you have not registered, you may do it now by calling or visiting our website. REGISTER TODAY! CALL NATIONAL SAFERIDES** One of our representatives will answer to assist you. We will search our database to ensure that you are registered with us. Once registration is confirmed, we will be happy to set you up with a ride home. Your ride will be paid for by National Saferides, however the tip is not included. We ask that you conduct yourself respectfully while riding with one of our transportation companies, and we highly encourage a tip for the driver.

FOLLOW UP One of our representatives will follow up with a phone call or an email the next day to make sure everything went smoothly. We are always striving to become better at what we do. Feedback about your experience with National Saferides is an important part in making that happen.

ABUSE OF SERVICE Since we are a non-profit organization, we have limited means of providing these types of services. Therefore, we ask that you only use our service when another ride is not available. You could be taking a ride from someone who really needs it. Any attempt to abuse National Saferides will not be tolerated, and may result in refusal of service.

RIDE POLICY National Saferides was created to get you home safely. We are not a free taxi service and do not intend to be used in that manner. Our concern is to provide reasonable transportation to your home or to a location where you will be staying, and not from bar to bar. A reasonable distance for a Saferide is at our discretion and will not be disclosed in the form of a number. We encourage everyone to make plans ahead of time to ensure you have at least 2 options of getting home safely, with National Saferides being the 3rd option you can always rely on. In the future, we plan to provide services from bar to bar, and an option which can also get your vehicle home along with you.

NATIONAL SAFERIDES INC.

The goal of the National Saferides Organization is to save lives.  We intend to do this by providing transportation to those who have had too much to
drink, or to those who may ride with an impaired driver.  There is
more than one way to save a life.  Our aim is to increase better
decision making, and greatly increase the use of safer rides home
which we will pay for as often as needed for the life of this
organization.

We understand the importance of responsible alcohol behavior, and
the effect it has on our communities.   With the help of our
community, we will become the most effective safe ride program on
Long Island.   Together we can work to keep our neighborhood streets
safe.  As we understand this is not just a local problem, ultimately we
plan on gaining national awareness and attention.

National Saferides will be available to callers in need of a ride seven days a week.  When a call is received, we will contact the nearest
transportation company that we work with and find the quickest ride
available and we’ll pay for it.  There are many reasons why people
choose to drink and drive, or end up riding with someone who has
been drinking.  A person does not need to be drunk, or even have
been drinking to warrant a safe ride home.  We want to encourage
better planning and smarter decisions which will save lives.  We need
the public to know there is an alternative out there, and it is called
NATIONAL SAFERIDES.

National Saferides is not to be used as a free taxi service, but in
circumstantial, or emergency situations where a ride is needed, and
no reasonable alternative is available.  While we are opposed to
turning away people in need, we are taking all precautions along with
serious efforts towards making sure this program will not be taken
advantage of.  Drinking and driving is a problem which affects us all.
That is why it is essential for EVERYONE to register and to become a
sponsor or a volunteer.   With every dollar we raise, it is another life
saved.
